12 of us Moderne Jazzers – Christ, Cor21, Frida, Gsulf, Hams, Ishem 8, Matti, Noteen, Obisk, Yor81, コンタン – had a vernissage of our third exhibition together last Saturday (Nov 11) at Module in Paris. We all made a children’s toy and some sketches,コンタン made the poster above and Christ wrote the text about the exhibition. ISHEM ROYER FRIDA / GALERIE ASSOCIATION D’IDÉES

What I Like

Ishem, Royer and Frida are friends whom we hung out with, helped us with our exhibition and went painting with when we were in Marseille. We are all in a same crew, Moderne Jazz, and we are good buddies. But friendship aside, I’ve been a great admirer of their graffitis ever since I started painting on walls.

I was excited when I first learned of their group exhibition at Galerie Association D’idées in Marseille and that I would there to see it in person as our exhibition aligned with theirs.

The show was titled <Le Retour Des Beaux Jours> which translates to ‘the return of the beautiful days.’ They showed paintings, stitchings, needle feltings, stone engravings, wood works and some zines. There are so many details which you have to see in person. Sadly, the exhibition ended last week, but here are some photos for those who missed it.

What I Make

Many friends of Moderne Jazz live in and near Marseille. Because we were so occupied with our exhibition, we couldn’t find time to go painting. Luckly on the last day in Marseille, we went for a quick rushed painting before Mattie and I had to run to catch the train back to Paris.

What I Make

This past weekend, our house was full with friends visiting. When there are many people around you, it feels like the time passes that much faster.

Our Saturday ended very late (or I should say very early), so when Sunday came around, we weren’t too motivated to go painting as we originally had planned a few days ago. But we finally pulled ourselves together towards the afternoon and went painting. Some painted and some didn’t, and we rushed towards the end that the sun was starting to set. Even though the day was tough and tiring, it is always a good fun to paint with Moderne Jazz crew : )
